50 Things I Love About My Mama

My precious, kind, loving, amazing Mama Turns 50 today! She is my very best friend. I cannot believe she is turning the big 5-0. She's doesn't look it at all, and she carries it with such poise and grace. She is my favorite woman in the whole world. My mama is my world and my heart is so blessed by her love. I could not have asked God for a better woman to raise me.

So in honor of this beautiful lady turning 50, I thought I would share 50 things I love about her:

1.    I love that she loves Jesus first and foremost. 

2.    I love that she is so selfless in all that she does, not once does she ever think about herself. 

3.    I love her smile that can light up a room!

4.    I love the funny way you say Bo-Jangles!

5.    I love her silly laugh and snort, and sometimes she will just bust out crying because she is laughing so hard.

6.    I love her big, beautiful green eyes.

7.    I loved her snuggles when I was little, when she would say lets just lay down a take nap.

8.    I loved Sharing Angel Kisses with You, (where you kiss on the cheek, but ever so lightly so that only an angel could feel it)

9.    I loved the precious way you sang “Jimmy and Jonie” to me every night on end until I fell asleep.

10. I love the empathy that she has for others. She always cares about everyone else and people she does not even know. Especially, when her favorite team is winning, but then all of a sudden she will start feeling bad for the losing team. Haha, this really happens ask my brothers. 

11.  I love the way you always look for the good in people. People can do her wrong, and yet she still finds reasons to love them and to see what is good in their hearts. 
12.  I loved her gentleness when I was sick. She would say, "But tell me, How does it hurt," at the time that would annoy me so bad, because I'm like I don't know it just hurts.  As a teacher, I've come to realize now that she was listening to me and not ignoring me like so many parents do. 
13. I love the way you taught me to read during Dylan's nap time. You made that a special time for me and you. Although I was young, I very much remember the way you taught me, how you taught me, and when you taught me. 
14. I love that You always believe in me. When I was stressed for a test, she would say just go study, You can do it. Not just with school, but with anything. 
15. I love Your generosity. I have never seen one person give so much of themselves in all of my life.

17. I love How she will open her house to anyone and everyone. You've hosted more parties, more showers, more sleepovers than any woman I know. You make everyone feel welcome, when people need a place to stay, they know that they can come there and feel at home, fed, safe, and loved.
18. I love Her unwavering Love for my Daddy. She has loved him beautifully and whole heartedly for 25 years. 
19. I love Your never-ending ability to show forgiveness for others. No matter what you always forgive. That's a Proverbs 31 woman.
20.  I love the way you made every birthday special (especially my 13^th). You went all out and my friends still talk about that day. You surprised me, even when I was a brat. You loved me even when I was acting so unloveable. 
                                  
21. I love Your work ethic at church. You have taught me what it means to be a servant of the Lord. 
22. I love the the way you always threw your hand over me in the front seat. When I was little I thought it was so aggravating, but now I see that you always were trying to protect me.
23.  I love your loyalty to your sisters, even when y'all argue like all sisters do, you always remain loyal to your family. You are a great sister, and I know that all of your sisters are so blessed to have you. 
24. I love The way you love you Papa. You and all of my aunts takes such good care of him and treat him like the treasure he is. You have taught me how to be a giver and not a taker. 
25.  I love Your protective instincts. I love that you want me to tell you where I am at, when I get home, what I am doing, and if I am safe. I love that you care enough to know. 

                              

26. I love her passion for reading novels. It is something that we have now grown to share. We can talk about the books we read and how they are so heart felt. I love that you always cultivated a love for reading in my life. 
27. I think you are weird, but I love Her love for Old Cemeteries. She finds peace in the quietness of them. I think it's odd, but I love that she is unique and finds her own peace walks. 
28.  I love the The way she teaches about Jesus with objects. The kids at church love it, and I always loved it when I was little in her class. I can remember tons of lessons that she taught, because of the objects she used! (Like the beach bag, the fishing game, let's make a deal, and so much more)
29. I love the notes you wrote in my lunches everyday. I always loved reading them and saving them to read when I felt lonely or upset at school. 
30. I love Your love for all people. It doesn't matter the color of the skin, the way they talk, or where they come from.

Under the Big Top 2016

Vacation Bible School was AWESOME! We missed our Children's Leaders (Rachel and Kyle Watts) so much this year, VBS is normally their big outreach and we jump in where needed. However, this year they moved to California, so that left it to us to do VBS! (insert anxiety, crazy faces, nervousness, and every emoji you can think of) We decided to do it in June this year, because of our Missions Trip being at the end of July and many of our youth being out of town! However, it did mean that we had less than 3 weeks to pull it off. I honestly did not know how we were going to do it. Part of me wanted to cancel, but I knew deep down that God would not have given me a vision if He wasn't going to make it come to pass! And, He sure enough did! 

Our theme was UNDER THE BIG TOP! We created a Circus in our youth building and it was absolutely amazing. Vacation Bible School is one of my favorite things that our church does, because it transforms our building into a place that our kids have never traveled before, some previous years have been Jerusalem, Disney World, New York, and now the Circus. Our kids LOVED every minute of it.

When they arrived at the ticket booth (aka Welcome Booth) they received 8 tickets to go visit each of the different booths at the Carnival. They won prizes at each booth, EACH night! (Only God could have made it where we had the EXACT amount of prizes we needed for each kid) We had a Spin a Prize booth, Guess Your Weight booth, Face Painting & Tattoos Booth, Rub Dub Dub Booth, a Fishing Booth, a Shoot the Hoop Booth, and Bean Bag Toss. They had 30 minutes from 5 to 5:30 to play the games and visit with each of the people at the booths. We also had a photo booth that allowed the kids to take pictures in and then on the last day we gave them their pictures, and they LOVED THIS.

On the first night, they learned about Daniel in The Lions Den! They even had a Lion Tamer come and visit with a "real" Lion. They each created a Lion Mask, so that they could be a part of the interactive lesson. On this particular night, we learned that Daniel was brave and took a stand for what they believed in and that God is always going to provide a way for us, even when it seems that there isn't a way. After the lesson, we went and dinner each night followed by games! The kids ate it up and loved it all. I love watching them get excited about Jesus!

On the second night, we learned about Jonah and the Whale! Before our lesson, we had a Magician come with a real rabbit and a dove! He did all kinds of tricks for us Under the Big Top! He captured the kids' attention and did a fabulous job! We highly recommend "Magic with a Twist"! He was friendly, called up several volunteers from the crowd, and went right along with our kids, and their "craziness"! Later in the evening, we learned that God had already been paving the road for Jonah, he was preparing the hearts of the people of Ninevah before he even got there! We learned there’s no point in hiding from Him because somehow, someway, somewhere, He will get your attention, just like He did with Jonah.

On the third night, we walked the "tight rope" (aka an awesome little invention that Seth whipped up with a 2 by 4 and some cement blocks, and some paint) as we faced our fears like Peter did when he walked on water with Jesus. This was our lesson for that evening and every child got a chance to walk the tight rope! We learned that Jesus will call on us to do things that may scare us, but we know if we fix our eyes on Him, He will guide and carry us through. This was the night that the Lord opened up the door for 10 SALVATIONS! 10 KIDS GAVE THIER HEARTS TO THE LORD as we opened up the altar. It was one of the most beautiful sights that I have ever seen. I was in awe of their little selves as they vulnerably gave of themselves. I was overjoyed and I know the heavens were as well! This was my BY FAR my favorite night of VBS. God is so very good. He is faithful to every thing, big and small.

The last night was water night and the kids had a BLAST! We ate pizza first and then we had the kids give their money for the missionaries,  which determined our winner for the Heaviest Amount of Change, which was the Blue team, led by Miss Maddy (one of our youth)! After pizza, we went and got busy busy busy on some awesome water slides! Half way thru, we stopped and let the Blue team slime the other team leaders! We finished up having some fun on the waters slides, and then we wrapped it up! And just like that VBS was over. All of the hard work was over and we had completed our mission!

This year we had so much help from our youth and adults. They stepped up and took control over Praise and Worship, Crafts, Painting, and coming up with ideas for the week! It was a wonderful experience. While we had our problems, our fights, the tensions rose, our money issues, our set backs, we pushed through! We made it and we succeeded. Not because of anything we did, but because of how awesome God is. He prepared those hearts of those little ones, before they even stepped through the door! 

I write all of this, not to brag on us, but to brag on God. Only He could take a week that anyone else would say was going to be a disaster with the little amount of time and money we had. Only He could save those 10 little ones who gave their hearts to the Lord. Only He could lay on others hearts to donate to our cause the exact amount of money that was needed for the slides, without them even knowing it. Only HE could take our crazy team and turn us into a vessel used to bring souls into His Kingdom. 

He is good. He is faithful. He is for real. He is amazing.

Spring Break Part 1--Walt Disney World

Wow! I have been wanting to write about my Spring Break for days now! It was seriously a week of a lifetime.

Let me begin by saying, some people have made some crazy remarks, funny remarks, (at times rude remarks about all of our travels), but hey we live for the moment, we save money for our trips, we look forward to them, we plan them, and we check off bucket list items, mainly because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. We want to make the most of what we have been given, while normally we don't do two big trips back to back like that, a family trip came up and we couldn't pass it by.... Just wanted to get that off my chest, I felt like some were putting me down for our trips, but in reality we are just celebrating this precious life that we are all given. So que sera, sera...

Thursday, March 31st

I WON tickets for my mama, myself, and my Grandma to attend "A Night With the Kingsbury's". This was a night that was encompassed with fun, laughter, tears, joy, and JESUS!  Karen Kingsbury is my mama's  and grandma's favorite author and mine also. She had a night dedicated to sharing her personal story, her family's story, her adoptions, her books, and her struggles. It was the best night! We drove to Atlanta, and made it back home around 1 am.

Friday, April 1st

Friday after school we left straight for Orlando with Seth, my cousin Lauren, Seth's mom, nephew, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend! It started off kind of rough, because I forgot my tennis shoes (which I ended up not wearing even after we went back for them..my bad, but I hate wet tennis shoes and the forecast called for rain), my phone charger, my fitbit charger, and my camera. Seth was not the happiest of campers with me. hehe. However, once we finally got on the road, we had a great time. We of course watched Frozen, The Lizzie McGuire Movie and had countless Disney Sing Alongs....we made it to Orlando at about 12:30 am. We checked in online to the Disney All Star Movies Resort! (** This was amazing, we never even had to go into the lobby to check in, our magic bands that they mailed to us became our room keys, we just went straight to our room and got to sleep to prepare for our long day ahead..***) I totally recommend this if you are driving in late to your Disney Resort. They make everything so easy for you! Gosh, I love Disney. 

Saturday, April 2nd

Alarm goes off 5:30 am
Breakfast in Hotel 6:30 am
On the Bus 7:15 am
Arrive at Magic Kingdom 7:35

Can you say busy morning! We made it to Magic Kingdom (with our WHOLE PARTY) at 7:35, the park was not scheduled to open until 9! We made it in time to get great spots for the Welcome Show into Magic Kingdom. This was my first time doing this and I can promise you it was so worth it! We got to see the Mayor of Main Street come out and welcome us, and all of the Characters rode in on the train and did a welcome dance and such! (*Insert Huge Thank you to my cousin Kerri for the idea)

Once they dropped the ropes we HUSTLED straight towards the new Snow White Mine Train Rollercoaster Ride (****because they were already out of Fast Passes 3 weeks in advance for that ride, and we didn't have that much time once we planned our trip, like I said super last minute, so heads up if you are planning a trip to Disney, and you are staying on site, you can make your fast pass reservations up to 6 weeks in advance****). Despite not having fast passes, we made it to the ride and only had to wait 5 minutes to ride it! It was Trey's (Seth's nephew) first rollercoaster and HE LOVED IT. I loved it also. It was my favorite ride of the trip! They even video you on it, and put it on your My Photo Pass Experience! (which is another huge thing I would buy if I was planning another trip to Disney) 

From that ride on, we hustled to ride to ride. We had ridden almost everything we wanted to ride before 11 am. By the end of the day, WE DID EVERY SINGLE RIDE BUT 5 RIDES TOTAL, and the only reason we didn't do those is because we chose not to, not because we ran out of time! It was amazing. It did start to rain, but we got ponchos and kept on keeping on. We were able to use 3 fast passes, but really we had very small wait times anyway, we only waited 10 minutes for Buzz Lightyear Ride, and we only waited 14 minutes for Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. We had lunch in Pinocchio Village Haus (where we all had the most DELICIOUS Caesar Salads)

Later, of course, we had a fast pass for Splash Mountain and got right on with no wait, however it was right after we just had dried off from all of the rain haha, but HEY IT WAS SUCH A FUN RIDE, who cares if we got soaking wet again?!?. Right when we came off of Splash Mountain, we had perfect seats for the parade that was coming through, we saw it from beginning to end with the best views.  We saw all of the princesses, peter pan, the Maleficent dragon that breathed REAL FIRE (which Trey loved), and so much more. It was a great parade. Lauren got some really cool pictures as well! Some people don't think the parades are worth it, but I just love them. I think it is a preference thing, if we had not had enough time to do all of the other rides, I would have wanted to skip the parade, but since we were on such a roll, we could not pass it up!

The Lord definitely gave us favor the whole day to do everything we wanted to do. We even met quite a few characters along the way.  (Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Ana, Elsa, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and of course Mickey Mouse, WHICH BY THE WAY DID YOU KNOW HE TALKS NOW???!!!??) This totally blew all of our minds, it was super cool the way he spent one on one time with Trey. He totally loved it, and of course the child in me loved it too!

It was such a good time watching Trey enjoy every little thing. We rode some more rides and was making our way to Tomorrow Land and ran right smack into the Move It, Shake it, Dance, Play it Party! They had a Live DJ in front of the castle playing dance songs like the Macerana, Shakira's new song from Zootopia, the Hokey Pokey, the Electric Slide and much more. Trey got to dance with Woody and give him a High Five, and Mickey photo bombed our picture. It was just awesome how we kept walking into all of these super cool, fun events. Some things were things that we planned, and some things were just plain favor. 

We stopped for a popcorn, churro, turkey leg, and ice cream break, and to charge our dying phones. (***Did you know you could take your phones to City Hall on Main Street and they will charge your phones for free? Much better option than spending time searching for outlets which there aren't that many of***) While we were doing this Lauren got to dance with the characters from Splash Mountain that rarely come out, so that was awesome! Lauren, unfortunately, did not get to meet her favorite character, Stich, but we did get to ride his ride with a short wait time. We actually ended up finding a lady's phone in our seats, which was really weird. (I'm telling you, we had the craziest time)

As the day continued, we kept riding rides and meeting characters along the way. Around 7:30 we had dinner at Cosmic Ray's Spotlight Café. We all had really good chicken fingers and fries. Then, we made it out just in time for the Show on the Castle, which is to die for. It is a projection up on to the castle and combines different music and movies from all of the Disney movies!  I'm not going to lie, it always brings tears to my eyes. every. single. time. (insert Disney geek)

Then, the Wishes Fireworks show came on! It was amazing, Trey loved the fireworks, everyone was excited, Tinkerbelle flew down and surprised all of the kids! After Wishes, is when we officially met Mickey Mouse. Then we watched the Electrical Parade, Seth, his mom, and Trey went home. Lauren and I stayed in the park and went and met the princesses that we wanted to meet. We actually met this awesome family from London along the way also! (Lauren doesn't meet a stranger). Then, we go to REWATCH the castle show, and THE Wishes firework show! WE HAD THE BEST TIME.  We took several pictures with the cast, and had them take ours, we sang and danced our way out of the parks closing. It was the perfect day. We walked out as the park was closing. I have never stayed at Disney that long in all of my life. and I loved every minute of it.

We hopped on the bus to head back to our resort. I pretty much passed out, I don't remember the bus ride back to the resort, because I was so exhausted. Lauren of course stayed up talking to people.

Sunday April 3rd

We woke up around 9am and went to Downtown Disney! We shopped around there, listened to a band play, ate some pretzels, and enjoyed our last remnant of Disney. Once we left Downtown Disney, we went and ate at the nearest IHOP, (just don't ask, lol). After IHOP, we drove down to Daytona Beach and stopped a little bit to enjoy the ocean air and breeze. Seth loved breathing in that salt air and Trey loved playing in the water. After Daytona, we hit the road and jammed out the whole way home. From songs like, "I will always love you, I don't wanna miss a thing, Justin Bieber, and so much more. We made it home from Disney World around 10:30 pm and enjoyed every minute of it. It was a great trip that we will treasure forever.

All in all the trip was just perfectly orchestrated. Lauren came and I could look at her at certain times and see that she had tears in her eyes, because of the memory she had with her Daddy and family there. (for those of you who don't know, her dad passed away a few years ago and Disney was a special place for their family) Many times on this trip, I caught her looking off in the distance and I don't think she ever realized I knew, but I could sense her happiness and her sadness at the same time.

Trey had the time of his life and it was so watching him experience his dreams come true with meeting Buzz and Woody. I am so thankful for this trip and all the memories that we made. We love Disney and will always return to the Happiest Place on Earth! I am so thankful that the Lord blessed us, with such a fun, loving, close circle of family and friends.

Go plan your trip, I promise you won't regret it.

Just "MARCH" on friends....

Happy March Friends! 

Wow! Can you believe it is March already? It seems like just last night we were hosting the Youth New Year's Eve party!! Time flies when you're having fun and dealing with crazyNESS! However, through it all we serve A GOOD, GOOD FATHER who loves us through all of our hot messes. :)

What has your March looked like? Have you been crazy busy? Have you been taking it easy? Have you been trying something new? Have you stayed in your comfort zone? Have you felt defeated? Have you felt a sense of victory? Have you felt the hits of allergy season? Have you been soaring in your career? or Have you been feeling like you are falling behind? Do you feel surrounded by those you love? or do you feel alone?

No matter what you are feeling, just know that there is a God. He is real. He is GOOD. He is FOR YOU, NOT AGAINST YOU. He cares for you! The things that have been going on your life are not unnoticed by God. He sees you. He is still pursuing YOU. He knows the desires of your heart.

There is an enemy out there that has a target on you, but there is a GOD who sent His SON FOR YOU to protect you and promises you a life and a life lived more abundantly! We will have trial, but we can know in all of this that JESUS too knows trials and has conquered them ALL. You have the victory in Him. Pursue Him. Reach out to Him. Pick up your cross and JUST MARCH ON. This too shall pass, friends. We will make it. He is working all things together for Your good.

Did you realize that Easter was in March? I had no idea until the end of February. I feel like we are losing some of our celebration time of Easter, so side-note I plan on leaving my decorations up for all of spring. :) I love Easter. It is my favorite holiday! We are so blessed to be able to celebrate our RISEN SAVIOR and are given an opportunity to reach out to so many people by sharing the GOOD NEWS that JESUS IS ALIVE! <3
